| So, San
Diego's on fire.
I've talked to a few
people so far and all their families are safe, as is mine. It's unsure
if the fire has reached any of our homes yet; I guess at this point we
just have to wait and see.
I hope everyone
else's families are all right. I'll be thinking of my San Diego friends
all today.
I'm not religious or anything, so I'm
not going to ask people to pray for us or anything. But if you know
anyone in SD, could you maybe keep them in your thoughts today?

| current mood: excited! current music: The Format - "Time Bomb"
Hi, guys! Long time no update, eh?
Anyway, here's the deal. I haven't updated for a while because I promised myself I wouldn't until I fixed certain things about my blog-- namely, the privacy settings. I'm more wary of what I put out in the public domain nowadays, so I've gone and made all my college blog entries protected. All new entries will be protected as well, just to be safe. If you want to be put on the list, just leave me a comment here and I'll add you, okay?

| I want to live where the soul meets body
current mood: a little weirded out
current music: the sounds of the dishwasher and the sleeping house
I leave for Santa Cruz tomorrow morning.
Somehow, it didn't feel real until today....
P.S. You will notice that, out of good taste, I have neglected to put
the lyrics to "Leaving on a Jetplane" anywhere in this post because I am just tactful like that. :P

| My tongue is all twisted around the air
current mood: victorious ^^v
current music: the sounds of construction ><
Finished my essay about 11 hours ago, bitches. :D *victory dance*
In other news, the construction guys are being jackasses. Every day for
the past 2 weeks they've come in between 8:30 and 9, which isn't at all
bad, but yesterday Mom and I spent all morning waiting for them because
they mysteriously didn't show up at that time. At 10:30 Mom called the
company to ask them if they knew where these guys were. Turns out they
were right there at the office and hadn't bothered to call us to let us
know they'd be late. The construction head also tried to tell my mom
that they had not, in fact, glued our door open and that we must be
mistaken. (Riiiiight.) He also said they'd be another 45 minutes, so we
made a quick coffee run. On the way back, he called us to ask where we
were, because they were sitting outside our house. >< Well,
whatever. They're putting in the last boards today(and maybe tomorrow,
too), so soon this will all be over with. *Zen breathing*
In other news, I'm reading An Invisible Sign of My Own
by Aimee Bender, and it's awesome. You guys should definitely look into
her work-- it's really funky, all sex and weirdness. :) I love it.
Anyhow, I'm gonna go find something to do. Jake gave me this huge old
sketchbook of his that was barely used, so maybe I'll go sketch more
cartoon girls in their underpants. :D

| So this is what it's like living in limbo
Hey, wow, what is this strange, unfamiliar action?
Oh, that's right. It's updating.
Trippy.
Anyway, the last few days have been quite hectic. We're getting
hardwood flooring put in 4 rooms of our house, and that's
been...eventful, to say the least. The other day the construction guys
blew a circuit breaker. A few outlets didn't work, plus we had no
internet for a while, so we had to call an electrician. Then we found
out that one of our floors is uneven, so we had to get that taken care
of. One of the cats stepped in the wet cement(we suspect it was Simon),
so we'll have to do something about that. Today they were installing
the border that goes between the wall and the floor. In our living
room, they carefully cut it so that it borders the screen door and
efficiently blocks it from moving.
So one of our doors is stuck wide open until tomorrow when they come
back. >.o We duct-taped a blanket over the doorway, which seemed to
help. They won't be done until Thursday, so who knows what the next few
days will bring...
In other news, I repacked my 4 boxes of stuff approximately 20 times
each, but I finally got them where they need to be. I learned the
importance of insuring your packages and of allowing other people to
help you lift them. I re-learned to love that old blue hand-me-down
sweatshirt. I baked sugar cookies and used up a lot of flour. I realized that 60 ounces of candy is, in fact, a hell of a lot, that I'm really, really gonna miss my job, and that I think my job will miss me, too.
Okay...I think that just about covers it! Wait, that's right, I forgot
to mention that I leave on Friday for Santa Cruz. ^^ Yay! Of course, I
still have to finish that essay.
...shit.
